Roanoke Family Retreat
We spent Memorial Day weekend at my brother, Adam, and his wife, Elizabeth's, home in Roanoke...What a splendid time!
Morning Menagerie
It's 7:30 p.m., and I'm finally able to sit down and recuperate from my day. Not really recuperate, but, rather, reflect on it in between noises and chores. This morning was like any other morning - Wake up, cook breakfast for the kids, run a few miles, shower..Okay..That's where it fell apart. Breakfast was late because I decided to treat the kids to homemade croissants, which took far too long for our alotted morning meal before school, so naturally the shower had to be delayed in order to get out the door on-time.
Rosey Dane woke up with a big swollen something on her eye, so she took the ride to school with us, as the vet agreed to see her as soon as we could get there. Rosey was such a good girl! At about 5 months old, she finally asked to go outside! Okay, she went to the door, no real words or noises - but she caught me looking in her direction, so I call it asking! Good girl, Rosey!
The kids high tailed it out of the car for their tardy explanation in the office (I conveniently can't go in for the lecture because I can't leave Rosey in the car alone). Rosey and I head to the vet..Oy vey..what is that smell? Rosey! Diarrhea in the back of the van. Fun! Back home - clean the van - race to the vet (smelling a little funky, not showered - pretty sight!). Rosey has a cherry eye - to the tune of $800 surgery! Lucky Daddy will have to dig deep to pay that one off. Back into the smelly car.
We make it back home just in time to catch Terry (silky terrier puppy) rushing out of the boys room. WHAT?! She was in her cage when I left. Little escape artist! The cage is open, the floor is tinkled on. Lucky me!
I sit down to check the Nest and go to work on the new Homepage design. Three hours later, hungry (forgot breakfast), smelly (still no shower), and aching shoulders from leaning over the computer, I realize I have 40 minutes before I have to pick up the boys from school. Whoever said that moms who work from home have too much time and too little to do, was not ever a working mother.
How was your morning? LOL!
College Bound Kids
Does anyone else get the college-bound grunt as a general response from their seniors? The dismissal as if you are the child and they are the adult, or the tone of voice that says, "Mom, you're talking but I don't hear a word you say!" I'm there, thank you very much..
Positively Great!
The power of positive thinking...How many of you want to stop reading now? LOL! Doesn't everyone talk about the power of positive thinking? And immediately your brain turns off and you think, Not this again...
Becoming Mom
I'm almost 42, not at my perfect weight, not wearing the perfect clothes, and not doing much of what everyone in society calls perfect. But I'm happy. I'm mostly healthy, and my family is secure. Why am I telling you this? Because it's important to know as you read on about becoming your mother....
Life Goes Fast
Have you ever looked down at your hands, or your legs, and suddenly realized that they looked just like your mothers? Or perhaps, if you are parent, you've heard your mother's words, "Because I said so!" streaming from your mouth, followed immediately by the thought Oh my God! I've turned into my mother!
A New Family Member!
This was a little unplanned...We are adding another baby girl to our household! Rosey is 12 weeks old!
Jumping off the high dive of life
This was the subject line of an email a friend recently sent me. As soon as I read it I knew what it was about. The last few times we were together she mentioned her indecision about having a third child. We reviewed the positives and negatives and now it seemed that she had decided to go for it.
Are you escaping your chaos?
So today I decided that we need better t-shirts for our sisterhood! I am in the midst of designing about 20 of them...
