Vacations..Why don't we do them more often?
I'm sure you are sick of reading about my time in Cape Cod -but suck it up ladies, because I'm still here and having such a good time that it seems only fair that I share it with you! LOL! Knowing I have two weeks here has really allowed me to relax. I could not be happier - except that I now feel the longing to be here more often.
The weather has been glorious - sunny and warm with an ocean-baked breeze. Today the kids played in the pond for a few hours and then in the pool for several more hours. I'm surprised that they haven't grown scales yet! Six hours of pure exercise - now that is a feat! We've begun a nightly walk around whatever town we feel like in the evenings, to walk off our daily ice cream (yeah, I eat it EVERY day - and it's mostly homemade, no low-fat ice cream here!). Tonight we went into Chatham. It was such a great night - no humidity and such a happy atmosphere! Jess, my dog lover, saw someone carrying a bag from The Black Dog (a store none of us have ever been in) and we spent an hour hunting it down - it turned out that the store was right across from the parking lot (duh!) and it only sold things about THE black dog. Jess was very disappointed, as he was hoping for a shop that had to do with every type of dog. By the way, he and Jake stopped EVERY person who had a dog with them - which was about 12 during our walk - to question them about the breed and personality of the dogs. Yes, he wants to be a dog breeder.
Here, it seems that everyone has a dog and brings them to the beach, the park, into town, any old place they happen to be going. I'd like to know why it is that in our hometown no one takes their dogs anywhere - me included. What's up with that? Is Cape Cod a dog town? My theory is that the Cape is very friendly and laid back, so people aren't as stressed and hurrying about as much as they do in MD/DC. Any other theories? Oh - it could also be that they like small children bothering them while they are on walks! LOL!
Tomorrow we have to go to the Eastham pet store - The sign reads "For Dogs, Cats, and Their Humans" - I think Jess can find a fun gift for our dogs there :-)
Off to enjoy the breeze....
Tonight's flavor: Mint Chocolate Chip for me, Cake Batter for Jake, Brownie Sundae for Jess, and Vanilla (BORING!) for hubster..
