Stretch & Restore...Yoga..Not for the faint of heart
I am happy to say that I got off my lazy bum and went to my yoga class tonight! It was the first (for me) of a class called Stretch & Restore. Sounds calming, easy, right? WRONG! This class was anything but easy. It was, surprisingly, calming. But that might have something to do with the fact that once you've riddled your body with unnatural twists and turns, held poses until your thighs shook, and sweat in places you didn't know possible, how could you be anything but calm.
I am hooked! Truly! This class was awesome. I was amazed to see several men in the class, which for someone who grew up with six brothers, makes me feel right at home. The class was jovial and forgiving to those of us who aren't quite as flexible as others. It was empowering to take control of my body in ways that I may not have otherwise. I truly enjoyed this. I will be going now on Tuesdays and Thursdays (I love torture!). And I can see how this type of exercise will make me more aware of my posture, more flexible, and less likely to eat poorly. Afterall, why torture your body if you are just going to load it up like a Mack truck? The bigger it is the harder to move! LOL!
