Step Brothers
I went to see the movie Step Brothers this weekend. Not once, but twice. I had to go back. You see, we have a blended family and two of our boys, who are step brothers, most certainly were patterned after Will Farrell and John C. Riley! No lie!
The scene where the two of them become best friends and do karate in the garage, watch violent movies and scream about them, and ask each other non-sensical questions - they have all taken place right under my roof! But the best part, for me, was when they asked about the bunk beds.
Our boys used to make forts and bedroom concoctions that would blow your mind away, and they always began with a well thought out plea, and typically used the word, "activities." I roared when I watched this scene, because we've had one too many forts that have collapsed on the boys, only to hear a screaming, "Oh shit!" followed by hoots and hollars of delight. Hours of entertainment, for them and for us!
That movie was fun and silly, and the parents, although enablers to the hilt, were very well done. While our two boys have grown up and one is now off to college, the next to follow in another two years, we now have two younger boys, although not step brothers, who are destined to live in the same room, under our roof, until they are forty! A sequal, maybe? "Blood Brothers" ?
