Piper...Put to Rest

in

This morning, after a weekend of emergency spine surgery and heartache, our dear Piper was put to rest. He was the greatest mini-dach ever - So smart and loving. We called him the little policeman because he would police our dane and silky terrier, who are puppies. He would let them know when he'd had enough of their rukus and alert us to their puppyish behavior. He let my 7 year old son dress him up in Vikings jerseys (below) and wrap him in blankets and baby him. He loved the bath and stood still while we bathed him in the kitchen sink. He sat and came when we called him. What else can you ask for?? A true mini-dach, he preferred to be chasing squirrels more than anything else in the world.

Piper was my son's dog, but we all adored him. He was a red haired mini with such a warm personality and a love of chasing anything that lived outside. He was much bigger than his 11 pounds might lead one to believe. He was our watchdog and our snuggle dog. We'll miss him terribly
