My Last Lecture

In today's paper the Parade magazine was included.  THe feature article is one of the best that I have read in a long time.  The guy that they focus on is dying of pancreatic cancer.  He also happens to be a professor at Carnegie Mellon University.  He was asked to give his last lecture to the students at the college.  Here are the things that he wanted to share with his students and his three children that he will leave behind.  I thought they were such fantastic things that I had to repost them.

1. Always have fun....ask yourself are you fun-loving Tigger or sad-eyed Eyeore?  Be Tigger.

2. Dream big...Permit yourself to dream and fuel your kids' dreams.

3. Ask for what you want.....what's the worst thing that can happen?  They say no.  Oh well, more often than not they will say yes.

4. Dare to take a risk....even if you fail, you took a chance on life.

5. Look for the best in everybody....be patient but in the long run people will show you their good side.

6. Make time for what matters....family, family, family.

7. Let  kids be themselves....teach them respect and discipline, but their personalities shine through.

He has a book coming out soon called "The Last Lecture."  SHould be great!
