Lipstick jumble
What WAS that? Admit it, you were watching. I’m sure several million of us were held captive, longing for a juicy, witty reprise of s*x and the City. Well it was nowhere close. These new wanna-be shows (Cashmere Mafia, etc.) have taken the successful New York career women to such a ridiculous hyperbole that she is no longer recognizable or enjoyable.
This is why I stopped watching new shows after the birth of my children. Time was so tight that the few precious hours that I could actually watch TV were filled with the shows I was already devoted to. Slowly those shows left the air and soon all that was left was a couple of lame reality shows. The last one to depart broke my heart. When Six Feet Under went off the air I truly felt as though I had lost a friend. I no longer had anything to look forward to on Sunday night and I missed obsessing about the next crazy plot twist during the week.
For that reason I never started watching the shows that everyone is talking about now. I am one of the few that has never seen one episode of Lost, Grey’s Anatomy or 24. I was hoping that this season’s Dirty, s*xy Money would turn out to be a keeper (hey, it stars Peter Krause!) but that was also a disappointing display of pompous excess. So I think I will give up on finding a new quality drama and stick to my one reality show love - Amazing Race. Hey, you gotta love Phil’s understated wit and s*xiness. I know I do.
