Husband, wife...and wife??

My mother always told me that women and men should not live together. She said that women should live with women, and borrow the men for those uh-hem special times when you need male companionship or feel like having them around to go to the  movies, or on a date somewhere. Satisfy your hunger then be done with them for a while. Afterall, women help with cleaning, cooking, caring for children, grocery shopping, and generally are easier to deal with on a day to day basis. Women listen to other women, and seem to really care what the other has to say. The vacant stare is never there - and I mean never! That head dodge to better enable a male to see the tv when a woman is speaking is pretty annoying, after all.

My problem is, I love my husband. I love being with him, sharing the household duties, the children regimen, the grocery shopping. My husband is a wonderful husband....most of the time. He is, afterall, a man. There are times that I'd like to filet him and hand him over to the Fried Green Tomatoes cook for a day or two, but I'm thankful, afterward, that that option wasn't available.

This is what I propose, and I'd love to hear other women's take on this. Since men can be very charming, warm, cuddly, and accomodating (in more ways than one), what about living with our husbands, with a caviot that we can have our own bedroom if we desire. But, we get to have wives!  Can you imagine? Someone to have dinner ready when WE come home from the gym, a person to ask how our day was without it feeling obligatory - someone to care when we just feel down or share in our happy times without thinking that the red pair of shoes are silly. I'm not talking about sleeping with our wives, unless that suits your fancy. I'm talking about, basically, having a gal pal around to share in things, while still having your husband around if you wish (which I would, most of the time). Someone to watch Lifetime TV with who won't tell you why the shows aren't realistic. Someone who gets us!

We can always banish the hubsters to their bedrooms when they are naughty. And while I wouldn't want MY wife to have any intimacy with my husband, I'm sure there are many wives who would love the break! LOL! Share in those duties as well.
