How Sweet It Is:-)
It isn't very often that I hear something truly complimentary from one of my children - afterall, that's not their role in life, is it? We are the nurturers and they are the receivers of that nurturing. Sure, we teach them to say please and thank you, and some parents teach their children to compliment a meal when it is served, whether or not they liked it. But when it comes to my own children, compliments to mom are never expected, and never desired, but when they come out of the blue - that is wonderful!
So where am I going with all this? I was laying in bed with my son last night when I said, "Do you know how much I love you?" and his response surprised me, "Yes, but it's not nearly as much as I love you!" After my heart melted into my belly, I wondered where that came from. Had I given that response to him at any time? Surely I must have. So I asked him why he said that, and again, a great response, "I said it because it's true."
I found myself thinking of other cute quips my kids have said - here are just a few:
Jake and I had a battle of wills during a class one afternoon. When it came his time to say what he was thankful for he didn't answer. I looked at him and prodded, "Jakey, what are you thankful for?" His answer, "I can assure you it's not you at the moment!" made me laugh right out loud!
On a good note, when Noah, my oldest son, went across the country with his cousins and my mother, my mother overheard the three teen boys talking about how they were annoyed with their parents. My son's response was, "Mom's cool. I have no idea how she gets 6 kids to school and games and everything else!" When my mother called me to tell me this it made my year! That moment passed quickly when he returned home and continued to tell me how I do everything wrong.
Anything fun from your kids?
