Father's Day
Today is Father's Day. Did everyone do something fun/wonderful with their husband, father, or father-type figure? Father's Day is an interesting day for me, as my father does not speak to me. Yeah, I know, weird stuff going on there - afterall, when you have an issues with strong women, and your daughter is one, well.....it kinda creates a gap. I let go of those troublesome issues long ago, and have learned that when Father's Day approaches, focus on the people who enjoy fatherhood!
My two oldest boys called early this morning from Chicago and Colorado to wish my husband, their step-father, a happy Father's Day, beating his two oldest to the punch. It was nice for him - it feels good to be appreciated. The six of us that are here in town together all went to dinner and a movie tonight, and it was very fun. My husband had a wonderful, although exhausting, time.
As for me, I'm happy I ran my three miles this morning, knowing we'd be eating restaurant food tonight. A little damage control :0) Soon we'll all turn in for the evening and tomorrow will come with its normal Monday morning chaos -work, kids' schedules, and what have you - and another Father's Day will have come and gone.
As my motto states, "Enjoy each and every day. No one else will do it for you." So true....
Happy Father's Day!
